What is the mission of FIA?
- The mission of Florida Intercultural Academy is to provide to its students a quality and equitable education within an activity-oriented multicultural studies program. We aim to promote within our students cultural understanding through an appreciation of similarities and differences and world peoples. Every child has the right to be included.
Is FIA public or private?
- As a public, charter school, FIA is run by its own Board of Directors. FIA is accountable to the School Board of Broward County which monitors FIA adherence to the charter.
How much is tuition?
- FIA is tuition-free. All funding comes from the State of Florida or from private funds raised by the school.
Who can attend FIA?
- FIA students must reside within Broward County Florida.
Describe the student body.
- FIA students come from diverse cultural, social, economic, and racial backgrounds.
What curriculum does FIA use?
- FIA provides a rigorous academic program characterized by individualization and high standards for all students using the Core Knowledge curriculum, which has been designed to teach solid knowledge in the key areas of language, math, geography, history, government, literature, fine arts and science, with sequential building from grade to grade. .
Is the faculty certified and where are they from?
- Faculty members are recruited
from all over the U.S.A. Educators are certified by the Florida Department
of Education or eligible for certification.

How many students are in a class?
- Class size ranges from 16-20. In all grades, a fulltime teaching assistant is assigned to each class.
How do I enroll my child in FIA?
- Parents must complete a registration packet or apply online. Return the personal information packet within a specified period of time. A random lottery is held if more students apply than are spaces available.

What special programs are offered at FIA?
- FIA offers spanish, art, music, and physical education to all students as part of their weekly schedule of activities. Our after school program features a variety of extracurricular activities.
What opportunities exist for parental involvement?
- FIA recognized the important role of parental involvement in a child's educational experience. FIA encourages positive parental participation at the school.
What is the policy of registration and acceptance for siblings of current FIA students?
- Siblings of FIA students
must be processed through the standard registration procedure (which may
include parent attendance at a mandatory registration session) and timely submission
of a completed FIA application packet. Siblings will be offered a space based
on these requirements, and will not be placed in the lottery. Siblings and employee’s
children will be given preference as provided for within the charter law.
