These individuals, our school liaisons, are on site which allows opportunities to interact with teachers and parents on a daily basis. They make extraordinary efforts to build rapport with PTA officers, often serving as the first school-affiliated employee that families contact for help when they want to reach a PTA officer. Another key is our liaisons’ ability to speak both Spanish and English. Our appointed liaisons work especially hard to connect with PTA officers and  parents’ to build trust of the school. The role of PTA School Liaison reinforces the connections between home and school.

What is PTA? Parent Teacher Association

The function of the PTA is to support the faculty, staff, parents, and especially the students at Florida Intercultural Academy. This is accomplished in several ways - through classroom volunteers, fundraising, and sponsorship of activities.

Our goals this year are: to increase communications throughout the school community and to increase parent participation in the PTA school events.

Membership dues are collected. The membership fee is $10.00 per family. Fundraisers of various types are planned throughout this 2011-2012 school year. The money raised will be used to fund educational student assemblies, school fairs, teacher/classroom supplies and Field Day.

-Attend Multicultural Tasting Fair (earn 2 hours)
-Attend Ice Cream Day or Movie Party for kid's celebration. (earn 2 hours).
-Box of copy paper (earn 4 hours)
-Classroom parent read-aloud-see teacher (earn 2 hours)
-Participate in BOX TOP (earn 2 hours for 20 labels)
-Classroom parent activity: Share your Heritage of your Career (30 minute classroom)

January/February

-Attend to Scholastic Book Fair (earn 2 hours)
-Attend Multicultural Art Fair (earn 2 hours)
-Box of copy paper (earn 4 hours)
-Classroom parent read-aloud-see teacher (earn 2 hours)
-Participate in BOX TOP (Earn 2 hours for 20 labels)

March/April/May

-Attend Science Fair (earn 2 hours)
-Attend Book Fair -Attend FIELD DAY (earn 2 hours) -Box of copy paper (earn 4 hours)
-Classroom parent read-aloud-see teacher (earn 2 hours) -Participate in BOX TOP (earn 2 hours for 20 labels) -Classroom parent activity: Share your Heritage of your Career (30 minute classroom)
